Eric Brousaides is a member of the firm’s education practice group where he focuses on general school law and on the unique aspects of special education law.  More specifically, Mr. Brousaides represents Maryland school systems in special education matters at administrative hearings and in the trial and appellate courts, handling numerous cases under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Mr. Brousaides also provides representation and counsel in all aspects of the special education process.  On behalf of the school systems he represents, Mr. Brousaides attends IEP meetings and assists schools in adhering to the myriad procedural and substantive requirements of federal and State law.  He also counsels school systems through the dispute resolution process, mediation, and the Maryland administrative complaint process.

In addition to his work in special education law, Mr. Brousaides represents school systems in general school law on matters as varied as the educational rights of homeless students, Free Speech rights and other First Amendment issues, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and employment discrimination charges filed with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the US Office for Civil Rights and the Maryland Commission on Human Relations.
