Lara L. Hjortsberg’s practice focuses on the transactional and securities law needs of small- and medium- sized businesses. She provides clients with advice on entity formation, debt and equity financing, mergers and acquisitions and on-going corporate governance and securities law compliance matters. Ms. Hjortsberg also has substantial experience in mergers and acquisitions in the banking industry.
Prior to joining Carney, Kelehan, Bresler & Scherr, Ms. Hjortsberg served as Corporate and Securities Counsel to AAI Corporation, a defense contractor, and its New York Stock Exchange-traded parent company. She acted as the primary advisor to the General Counsel in the areas of corporate law and corporate governance, securities compliance, mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions. Before AAI, Ms. Hjortsberg was a member of the Corporate Finance and Securities Practice Group of Venable LLP, representing both private and public companies.
Ms. Hjortsberg is also a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland, where she teaches both Business Planning and Securities Regulation.
